Today, BHAS students joined the community in celebrating the Unified Civic Monuments Project, unveiling two monuments dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event featured Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King, as the honored guest and speaker. The day began with a ceremony at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum in St. Joseph, featuring a joint performance of "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" by the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph High School bands. Following the ceremony, attendees participated in a community march to the Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park in Benton Harbor for the second unveiling. CTE Construction students had an incredible opportunity to visit the University of Notre Dame! They met with Mr. Anthony Polotto, Senior Director of Construction and Quality Assurance, who oversees all construction projects on campus. During their visit, students toured the nearly completed McCourtney Hall, a 220,000-square-foot research facility. They explored the research classrooms and got a hands-on look at the final stages of construction, gaining valuable insights into what goes into preparing a building for use. This was an inspiring experience for our future builders! 🛠️
